Art City began by providing free drop-in arts classes for the community’s children and youth. In the past 19 years, Art City has grown to providing after-school arts programming 4 days/week to nearly 100 children weekly. Since 2000, the number of children and youth impacted by Art City art education programming is enduring/immeasurable.
Art City is a key resource for this community, as the neighbourhood lacks the appropriate number of city services for its population. Numerous studies City of Toronto studies, renewal efforts, plans, strategies and related neighbourhood initiatives for St. James Town are integrated under the St. James Town Connects Framework.
