Tuesday: Working in Artist’s Styles, Aged 6-9yrs

Children take inspiration from famous works of art by contemporary artists from around the world to create their own works in the style of that artist. This class focuses on drawing and painting but also includes sculpture and mixed media and is intended to improve skills in drawing including spatial perception, scale, and general handling of materials. We also aim to improve painting skills such as colour mixing, paint application and layering. This is an introductory class for young artists who are eager to improve their artistic skills while making friends and having fun!

Wednesday: Art from Around the World, Aged 6-13yrs

In this class we are studying varying art forms from around the world to learn about different techniques of painting, drawing and other media. The skills we aim to improve through this class are drawing skills through instructed drawing lessons, as well as how to mix paint and apply it in an intentional way. This is a mixed-age class, and is great for any child that has an interest in art!

Our Friday class is for children aged 10+, and is intended for children who have great interest in art and want to develop, expand, and improve their skills.

March Break Camp: March 17-20th, 6-9 years *FULL*

This March Break children will explore the concept of teamwork through daily projects in painting and drawing. Each day, children will have a chance to lead a lesson with a team! The day begins with a focused exercise in technique development and ends with a project that practices these newly developed skills. Camp includes free-play and (art) games during break, lunch and snack time, off-site trips and daily art lessons! This program will move at a slower pace with many breaks to give children ample time to learn and decompress!

Special Projects and Partnerships

We are seeking new and ongoing partnerships. Contact us if you are interested in a program or project partnership.

2019 Partnerships

Buddy Bench partnership with University of Toronto Urban Studies

Through our partnership with the University of Toronto’s Urban Studies students, the children and youth of Art City created a space for people to come together. The Buddy Bench, a designated place to make new friends and experience inclusion, is a prime example of the caring and welcoming atmosphere shared by everyone who enters Art City.

Mixed Media Studies partnership with Havergal College

Since 2014, Art City has partnered with Havergal College. Students from Havergal College travel to Art City to connect with the children while sharing their love for art and design. The Havergal partnership allows Art City students to experience more dedicated one-on-one time with a group leader, enriching the social and artistic experience for both Art City and Havergal students.

Field Trips

Thanks to our generous sponsors, we have been able to further enrich our programming with field trips. We are always looking for discounted or free tickets to cultural and art venues. Contact us if you have tickets, or would like to sponsor a class field trip
